NAVAIR Sustainment Lead Software Engineer - Secret Clearance

A week in the life of a Software Engineer:

• Establishes, shapes, ensures compliance and continuous improvement for software sustainment policies and procedures.
• Interact a wide diversity of software stakeholders.
• Apply discipline of computer science or software development knowledge with minimum fifteen years of experience in relevant job fields to support quality production of software on large complex software intensive weapons programs.
• Plans, directs and manages software sustainment and Fleet software update activities for large software intensive programs to ensure requirement, design, implementation, integration, and testing to be aligned with program objectives and NAVAIR software engineering department process through the use of prototype messages, Technical Directives, and Engineering Change Proposal.
• Coordinates the preparation of software technical documents and statements of work, evaluates proposals, monitors and guides contractors' progress, and manages software technical solutions to ensure highly adaptable and resilient software design.
• Manages software technical solutions to support software updates of Support Equipment (SE) tools and coordinate SE maintenance with Lakehurst Support Equipment organization. 
• Exchanges information and viewpoints with other functional teams such as logistics, and other government organizations.

• Ability to obtain Top Secret DoD Clearance. US Citizenship required.
• BS or BA degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.  A BS or BA degree in Engineering with significant recent experience in software coding and software development is also acceptable.  Degree must be awarded from a college program with ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc.) certification.
• At least fifteen (15) years of software engineering experience, performing software requirements analysis, software design, software coding, software integration and software testing. At least five (5) years of the fifteen (15) years of experience shall have consisted of performing software engineering functions for a DoD aircraft system, DoD weapons system, DoD mission system or DoD support system.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $125,000-150,000.
