As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Work closely with product owners, stakeholders, and other team members to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure alignment on project goals.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management and stakeholders, providing updates on progress, challenges, and solutions.
  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and roadblocks, ensuring the team can deliver on its commitments.
  • Actively participate in scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, contributing to the team's agile processes.
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Extensive experience working with Java.
  • Proficient in coding in one or more languages like Java, Spring & Spring Boot.
  • Hands-on experience in AWS specifically ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, Step functions, storage services.
  • Experience working in  Kafka, Cassandra/NoSQL, relational databases and front end technologies like React.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD deployment with tools such as Jenkins, Maven or Gradle.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
 
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Expertise in cloud-native application development and serverless computing.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices and experience implementing them in cloud environments.
  • Proven track record of leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and experience working in a Scrum team.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in tech communities.
