As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Work closely with product owners, stakeholders, and other team members to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure alignment on project goals.
- Communicate effectively with senior management and stakeholders, providing updates on progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
- Identify and resolve technical issues and roadblocks, ensuring the team can deliver on its commitments.
- Actively participate in scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, contributing to the team's agile processes.
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
- Extensive experience working with Java.
- Proficient in coding in one or more languages like Java, Spring & Spring Boot.
- Hands-on experience in AWS specifically ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, Step functions, storage services.
- Experience working in Kafka, Cassandra/NoSQL, relational databases and front end technologies like React.
- Knowledge of CI/CD deployment with tools such as Jenkins, Maven or Gradle.
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Expertise in cloud-native application development and serverless computing.
- Strong understanding of security best practices and experience implementing them in cloud environments.
- Proven track record of leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and experience working in a Scrum team.
- Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in tech communities.
