As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the agile team, you play a crucial role in improving, developing, and delivering top-tier technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. As a key technical contributor, your responsibilities include implementing vital technology solutions across numerous technical areas within different business functions, all in support of the firm's business goals.
Job responsibilities
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
- Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
- Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Advanced in one or more programming language(s)
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
- Practical cloud native experience
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 8+ years minimum experience as a developer, preferably in the financial industry.
- 8+ years of experience in server side programming (Java 18 preferred, however combination of Java with C/C#/python is acceptable)
- Designs and develop solutions with high throughput and low latency.
- Experience building and supporting mission-critical, 24/7 applications Proficiency in modern programming languages (understanding of futures, promises, reactive programming)
- Experience with Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Kafka).
- Experience with performance monitoring and testing.
- Experience utilizing distributed technologies and frameworks. Kafka, Cassandra, Spark, and Hadoop.
- Experience writing performant SQL code/stored procedures (Oracle/Sybase/SQLServer/Cockroach).
- Experience with messaging technologies – Kafka, WebSphere MQ/JMS, RabbitMQ.
- Experience with code testability and test automation, JUnit/Mockito, Gherkin with Cucumber.
- Proficiency with GIT.
- Experience working in a fast-paced CI/CD financial services/digital focused delivery environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of Email, Text (SMS) and Push technologies is a plus.
- AWS experience with Terraform is a plus.
- React UI experience is a plus.
