Lead Software Engineer | Lead Full-Stack Developer | Shanghai, China

👑 The Role: 
Lead a cross-functional squad of three engineers, spending ~40% of your time hands-on in code. The rest will focus on both technical and people leadership—setting direction, mentoring, and enabling your team to thrive. Together, you’ll translate complex business needs into scalable, elegant solutions that support Atheneum’s continued growth.

• Accelerate delivery using data-driven decisions and engineering performance metrics

• Drive technical standards and engineering culture across the wider organisation 

 
🧩 You Bring: 

• 8+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years leading teams 
• Deep experience with microservices, serverless, and cloud platforms 
• Pragmatic mindset that balances engineering rigour with delivery goals 
• Proven success in agile, cross-functional, product-led environments 
• Deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle—from backlog to release and support 
• Commitment to growth—for yourself and your team Ability to work effectively in English within a multicultural, international team

Expect the process to take 2–3 weeks, but we’re flexible and respect your schedule. It includes: 
1. Initial exploration call (30 min) with a member of our tech recruitment team 
2. Technical assessment (90 min) completed at your convenience 
3. Three-stage interview: 
 • Culture and delivery discussion (30 min) 
 • Pair programming and whiteboarding (90 min) 
 • Behavioural and situational interview (60 min)
