About Virtualnonexecs
Virtualnonexecs, which is part of the Leonard Curtis Group, is a fast-growing start-up that helps connect non-executive directors with businesses across the UK. We've built a powerful platform to enable that network, and we're now looking for a hands-on, product-minded developer to take full ownership of our technology stack as we grow.
The Role
We're hiring a Full-Stack Software Developer to take over as the sole technical owner of our Laravel-based platform. You will be responsible for the entire product lifecycle: scoping new features, maintaining infrastructure, pushing code, debugging live issues, and advising on product trade-offs.
You'll work closely with the founding team to evolve the product in line with business needs. This is not a narrowly defined engineering role -we're looking for someone who thrives in autonomy, is comfortable wearing multiple hats, and enjoys solving real-world business problems through code.
Key Responsibilities
Own the full-stack development of the Virtualnonexecs platform (Laravel/PHP)
Design and ship new features based on business priorities
Maintain and improve our infrastructure (DigitalOcean, AWS, Docker)
Integrate and maintain third-party services such as Stripe, Pipedrive, and ActiveCampaign
Experience building products that use Large Language Models (OpenAI)
Triage bugs and improve performance across the stack
Act as the technical voice in product and business discussions
Ensure code quality, security, and long-term maintainability
Tech Stack
Backend: Laravel (PHP)
Frontend: Blade templates (with a small amount of Vue.js in the admin portal)
Infrastructure: DigitalOcean, AWS, Docker
Integrations: Stripe, Pipedrive, ActiveCampaign, OpenAI
Other: Git, Github Actions, Queue workers
You'll Thrive In This Role If You...
Are a self-starter who can take full ownership of a codebase
Have 3+ years experience working with Laravel or similar MVC frameworks
Are comfortable writing both backend logic and frontend UI
Understand how to balance short-term product needs with long-term tech health
Have experience working in a start-up or solo developer role
Enjoy working closely with non-technical stakeholders
Can move quickly without breaking things - and fix them when they do break
Bonus Points For
Experience with Stripe and subscription billing logic
Familiarity with CRM integrations (Pipedrive, ActiveCampaign, etc.)
Prior solo dev or founding engineer experience
Basic DevOps or infrastructure management experience
What You Get
Full ownership over a real-world product used by thousands
A key role in shaping the company's tech roadmap
Flexibility to work remotely and manage your own schedule
A fast-paced, no-red-tape environment where your impact is immediate
