Job Description

At IFS Labs, we drive and accelerate innovation and differentiation in IFS products, delivering cutting-edge solutions to our customers with the right technology at the right time in an ever-changing technological landscape. 

We are on the lookout for dynamic and open-minded Software Engineers to join our team, fostering innovation and leading strategic research initiatives. You’ll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge trends and technologies such as AI, ML, XR, and even Quantum Computing, or explore established technologies and products to discover new and out-of-the-box use cases. 

A Labs project can span up to 6-12 months and most often runs individually or in small teams, collaborating with stakeholders, product and solution experts in other engineering teams, as well as externally with customers and partners. These projects focus on innovating with technologies and trends expected to emerge in the short to mid-term horizon, typically within the next 1-3 years. 

Another key responsibility is to create custom demos and provide exhibition support for major world-class events organized by IFS. This involves showcasing both existing and upcoming features and capabilities, demonstrating our leadership and commitment to delivering value to our customers. You’ll play an active role by both building the demos and possibly attending these events in person, engaging directly with IFS customers, partners, press, and analysts, inspiring them and giving a glimpse of the art of the possible in the future. 

As a Software Engineer in Labs, you will work with a team of highly skilled software engineers in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment. Engage in innovation projects and both tactical and strategic research, working with new, existing, and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the IFS product portfolio. You will learn, work on high-impact, high-visibility projects, and grow. 

Responsibilities: 

• Identify and assess emerging technologies, industry trends, best practices, technological advancements, and market opportunities to foster innovation.
• Lead the end-to-end innovation process, including idea generation, concept development, and prototyping, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful handover and productization.
• Lead and facilitate ideation sessions, brainstorming activities, and innovation workshops to generate and prioritize ideas.
• Document research findings, recommendations, and usages, including the technical setup and process.
• Present and train on research/innovations to support smooth hand-off and adoption by IFS product and technology teams.
• Promote a culture of innovation by fostering collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications

Essential: 

• A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology along with 3+ years of experience with a strong background in software development.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in IFS Cloud or IFS Apps, preferably in IFS Cloud.

Desirable: 

• Passionate and in-depth understanding of the latest technologies and trends.
• Strong business acumen, entrepreneurial mindset, and creativity.
• Hands-on experience with Cloud Services, preferably Azure.
• Strong technical/programming skills with in-depth experience in Frontend and Backend frameworks and technologies.
• Experience in rapid prototyping and conducting proof of concept experiments.
• Logical and structured approach to problem-solving, even in situations of ambiguity.
• Ability to translate technologies and trends into business benefits.
• Highly independent and able to drive your own projects.
• Innovative and think outside the box.
• Quick learner.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage situations where multiple stakeholders are involved and have differing or conflicting opinions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
• Previous working experience with enterprise-grade software.
