We are looking for a Lead Engineer to join the CI/CD team in our Internal Development Platform (IDP) zone. The IDP zone within athenahealth is responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining all the core foundational components that are required by other development teams within athenahealth to successfully build their products. In addition, the zone also delivers select end use features. Overall, the zone supports the rapid innovation and delivery of services and capabilities and is focused on improving developer productivity, lowering risk during development and production, keeping current product suites reliable and scalable.

  
The Team: The Unified Pipeline (CI/CD) team is a central part of developer experience at athenahealth. This team is responsible for building a pipeline which will be the core of athenahealth’s SDLC. In this team, you will see a mix of technologies, including AWS, Jenkins, Harness, Kubernetes, Bitbucket, Python, server management, and more.  As a Lead Member of Technical Staff, you will collaborate with the team and development organization to implement best practices, ensure stability, and enhance the experience for our internal customers. 

Job Responsibilities   

  • Lead, design and develop code on an agile team of engineers, a scrum master, a product owner, and experience designer
  • Collaborate, mentor, and advise team members to promote productivity and effectiveness; share business and technical insights with the broader engineering and product organization
  • Develop knowledge to act as a domain expert. Take ownership of what the team builds and coordinate efforts across the teams to ensure proper completion

   

Typical Qualifications   

  • Ideally 6+ years of software engineering experience with significant product development expertise
  • Proficient in at least one modern programming language
  • Experience with DevOps, Harness, Kubernetes, Python, Jenkins, AWS, Groovy, Docker and similar broad technologies is preferred
  • Experience building and maintaining CICD Pipelines
  • We work in Agile TDD environments, so any Agile experience or CI/CD concepts is helpful
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux, SQL, RESTful API, and various other technologies is helpful
