What will you do? 

The Lead Software Engineer is needed to help the KORE’ Connectivity Team design, develop, deploy and operate IoT backend services providing companies control their fleets of IoT devices. You will be part of a team that designs, builds and operates backend services powering customers-facing data connectivity systems.

In this role, you’ll: 

  • Hone your skills writing maintainable code with extensive test coverage, working in a professional software engineering environment (with source control, dev/stage/prod release cycle, continuous deployment with CI/CD pipelines). 
  • Learn cutting-edge skills by tackling complex problems in distributed computing.
  • Spend some of your time infusing your technical expertise and know-how in your team through code reviews and whiteboarding sessions.
  • Work with our Architects and leadership to set up best practices for the area of ownership.
  • Lead the engineering team through technical challenges and performance goals
  • Lead technical decisions for your team and influence technical decisions across your functional domain 

Required: 

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or computer engineering preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of hands-on experience designing, building and operating production backend systems in a large scale, distributed applications environment.
  • Experience with Telecommunications systems
  • Extensive experience with at least one of the following languages: C, Java, Go and/or Python
  • Solid knowledge of Linux based systems. 
  • Experience working with cloud computing and container technologies (AWS, Kubernetes).
  • Experience scaling data tiers employing a variety of SQL/NoSQL database and caching technologies.
  • Experience with version control concepts as well as unit and integration testing methodologies.
  • Confidence in making data-driven decisions and a willingness to take ownership of project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated leadership in guiding teams through technical decisions, architecture choices and operational best practices.
  • Proven experience leading, mentoring, and inspiring development teams.
  • Success in promoting knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and a culture of innovation within the team.

Desired 

  • Hands on experience with Kafka/Datadog, GitLab, Helm charts, Terraform, Redis.
