Job Description

We are looking for a Lead Developer to take on a new role at Scandic Hotels and lead the technical development of our mobile app. This is a high-impact product, actively used by hundreds of thousands of guests every month, and a central part of Scandic’s digital future.

2024 continued the momentum from our record-breaking 2023, with strong results and further investment in digital guest experiences. We’re financially and commercially stronger than ever and we’re accelerating our digital journey even further.

About the role

You will take technical ownership of our new app, which we are building in React Native, designed for long-term scalability, strong performance and a smooth, engaging user experience. It is also an important commercial driver.

We estimate that you’ll spend about half of your time coding, and the rest focused on architecture, collaboration and other relevant stuff. You will play a key role in shaping how we build and grow our app capabilities going forward. This role does not include personnel responsibility. You will report to our Tech Lead/Engineering Manager for Web & App and be part of our tech team Customer Journey.

Tech stack: React Native, Expo, TypeScript, GraphQL and REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines, App Store and Google Play deployment, automated testing.

• Lead the development of Scandic’s new mobile app using React Native
• Take ownership of architecture, performance and code quality
• Collaborate with backend, product and design to turn needs into scalable solutions
• Continuously improve code, testing practices and team workflows
• Work closely with business key stakeholders regarding Scandic app roadmap and strategy
