As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, Neovest Technology Direct, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develops innovative software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond conventional approaches to solve technical problems.
- Creates secure, high-quality production code and reviews and debugs code written by others.
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate the remediation of recurring issues to enhance the operational stability of software applications and systems.
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and their applicability within existing systems and information architecture.
- Champions communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and adoption of new and cutting-edge technologies.
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data, using these insights to drive improvements in coding practices and system architecture.
- Contributes to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 5+ years of applied experience.
- Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
- Advanced proficiency in Java programming.
- Practical experience with Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Kafka, and cloud-native solutions.
- Expertise in automation and continuous delivery methods.
- Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies.
- Experience with HTTP/2 streaming and REST technologies.
- Proficiency in additional programming languages.
